Car Seats
Did you know that 4 out of 5 car seats for children are not installed properly?
Shady Hills United Methodist Church Family Center is proud to join with these organizations to provide assistance to parents in the Shady Hills area with their state mandated childrens car seats:
- Safe Kids, Florida Suncoast
- All Children's Hospital
- Florida Highway Patrol
On Saturday, February 6, 2010, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, experts from the National Highway Safety Administration will be at the church to inspect and, if necessary, replace your childs car seat.
To avoid possible wait time, we recommend that you make an appointment for yourself and your child by calling (800) 756-7233, Extension 2. Please know the age and weight of each of your children under the age of eight (8) years when you call.
When you come:
- This event is at the WEST end of the parking lot, near the small unmarked building.
- Please bring all of your children so that the technician may fit the seat exactly to your child.
- Please plan to spend 20 to 30 minutes for each child because the technicians will be very thorough.
- Please bring your car owner's manual with you.
- Please bring the printed instructions that came with your childs car seat.
The technicians will do these things with each of your child car seats:
- They will remove the seat from your car and carefully inspect it to ensure that it is safe. If your seat requires replacement, we will provide replacement seats for a very small fee ($2.00). If necessary, we can even waive that fee.
- They will show you how to properly install the child car seat into your car.
- They will then have you install it.
The technicians are National Highway Safety Administration Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians.
If you have a child and you drive in Shady Hills, please call (800) 756-7233, extension "2" to make an appointment and then come to the community center on Saturday, February 06, 2010 for your childs safetey.
